I always struggle to see the black marks on the Wednesday evening and last night they were virtually invisible with the fleet all missing one and having to sail back. These marks are both too small/low which means that in any sort of swell they dissapear and the black colour seems to merge with the evening sky/sea particularly on a night like last night. As topper marks on a sunday set inside the main course they are great but could we not have some taller better coloured marks for the wednesdays. We surely only need one more to add to the sunday marks.
Also the pencil mark is difficult to see although at least you know where this is in relation to the club house. |

IIRC, there is a spare orange mark fully kitted out in the Annex (as used at the Opens this year).
Need to change the SIs tho..... _________________ Mike

| I suggest we swap wednesdays to all orange marks as no cost is involved. Do others agree? |

We could always paint the top of the marks green! _________________ Jerry Hone

One for the Sailing Committee I suggest.
Changes based on single incidents / experiences often produce other issues. Let's consider properly. _________________ Nick

Nick - your comment on considering this at the sailing committee carfully taking into account other factors is sensible.
I do believe I am not the only person who has trouble with the black marks both due to thier colour on a dull evening but also due to their very small size and lack of height.
One other thing to consider is that having different colour marks from the other marks does make the location of the outer loop easier to identify but on balance I beleive big orange marks at every corner would be far easier. |

Thx Julian.
Yes those are all valid considerations. I know the small black dumpy buoys can be tricky to see in certain conditions, as the Topper fleet uses them most of the time!
Another factor is the size and weight of all the marks laid in relation to the capacity of the rescue boat to take them all out in one trip.
Anyway, all will be considered at the next Sailing Committee meeting. _________________ Nick
